110 Years of Remembrance, Resilience, and Renewal

Այսօր մենք կանգնած ենք ոչ միայն իբրեւ վկաներ պատմութեան, այլ իբրեւ ժառանգորդները ողջ ազգի մը բնաջնջման ձախողած արարքին, որ հակառակ ցեղասպանութեան մղձաւանջին, վերածնուեց՝ սփիւռքեան ցամաքներու վրայ։

1915 թ-ին, մէկուկէս միլիոն անմեղ հոգիներ խլուեցան։ Բայց անոնց գիրն ու լեզուն, մշակոյթն ու արուեստը, աղօթքն ու հոգեւոր ժառանգութիւնը՝ վերապրեցաւ։ Մենք կուգանք այսօր, ոչ միայն յիշելու, այլ վերանորոգելու մեր ինքնութեան ու պատկանելութեան ուխտն ու գիտակցութիւնը։

Ահա այս գիտակցութիւնն է, որ մեր մեծ գրող՝ Մուշեղ Իշխանը, կը բացագանչէ իր անմահ տողերուն մէջ՝

«Եթէ կորսուի լեզուս,

Ես ալ պիտի կորսուիմ,

Ինչպէս կ՚անհետանայ ծովուն մէջ

Իր հունէն ելած գետը…»

Այս խորհրդաւոր տողերը մեզի կը յիշեցնեն, թէ ազգ մը կրնայ կորսնցնել իր հողը, բայց եթէ պահէ իր լեզուն, գրականութիւնը ու հաւաքական յիշողութիւնը՝ կը շարունակէ ապրիլ։

110 տարիներ անց, մեր գոյութիւնը ինքնին պատգամ մըն է։ Մենք ապրեցանք մեր ցաւը՝ առանց ատելութեան, մեր կորուստը՝ առանց մոռնալու, եւ մեր պատմութիւնը՝ առանց զայն աղաւաղելու։

Այս տարելիցը թող ըլլայ ոչ թէ լոկ յաւերժ յիշողութեան խորացման, բայց նաեւ վերանորգ պայքարի մարտահրաւէր։ Պայքար՝ ոչնչացման, ուրացման եւ անտարբերութեան դէմ։ Թող մեզմէ իւրաքանչիւրը վերադառնայ իր հարազատ արմատներուն, որպէսզի կանգուն մնայ մեր ազգի ծառը։

Մենք կը յիշենք՝ որպէս պատմական գիտակցութիւն։

Մենք կը մեծարենք՝ որպէս բարոյական պարտաւորութիւն։

Եւ մենք կը գոյատեւենք՝ որպէս ազգային հպարտութիւն։

Երախտագիտութեամբ, մտաւոր խորքով եւ անսասան յանձնառութեամբ։

Today, we stand together not only as witnesses to history but as heirs to a tragic legacy—the failed extermination of an entire nation. Despite the nightmare of genocide, our people have found renewal and resilience in the lands of the Diaspora.

In 1915, one and a half million innocent lives were taken from us. Yet, their language, culture, art, prayers, and spiritual heritage endured. We come together today not just to remember but to reaffirm our commitment to our identity and our sense of belonging.

The great writer Moushegh Ishkhan beautifully captures this sentiment in his timeless words:

“If my language is lost,

I too will be lost,

Just as a river that has flowed from its source disappears into the sea…”

These haunting lines remind us that while a nation may lose its homeland, it continues to thrive as long as it preserves its language, literature, and collective memory.

One hundred and ten years later, our very existence remains a defiant message. We have borne our pain without harboring hatred, faced our loss without forgetting, and acknowledged our history without distortion.

Let this anniversary not only serve as a call to deepen our collective remembrance but also as a challenge for a regenerative struggle—a struggle against destruction, denial, and indifference. May we all return to our true roots so that the tree of our nation may stand tall.

We remember with historical consciousness.

We honor with moral obligation.

And we endure with unwavering national pride.

With gratitude, intellectual rigor, and steadfast commitment, we stand together.
