ACEC Renovations CY2000-CY2001
In an attempt to modernize and renovate our community center, the ACEC has made a number of changes. The Executive Board is hopeful that with these changes, our community will take notice of and continue to support the efforts being made to improve the center.
If you have any questions regarding the ACEC, please call the ACEC office at (617) 926-6067 and speak with Hilda Manoukian.

Conference Room Renovation
In CY2000, the conference room, located on the first floor of the building, was renovated. The renovation included new furniture, re-carpeting, painting, and new photographs of scenes of Armenia hanging on the walls. The lighting fixtures were also changed. Most importantly, the room was dedicated to Unger Enoch Lachinian, who served as Executive Director for 18 years and retired in 2000. The new Enoch Lachinian Conference Room reopened in June 2000 with a dedication ceremony.

Administrative Offices
All of the administrative offices located on the first floor were re-carpeted and painted. Additionally, new furniture was bought, including a new copier, a new computer, and a new phone system that allows us to better serve the center.

Common Areas
All of the common areas within the ACEC were given a fresh coat of paint. The foyer had not been painted in a number of years, and it has made a great difference. Roger Krikorian of Watertown repainted the walls and did a fantastic job.

Landscaping
Thanks to the help of David Najarian of Waltham and Armen Zildjian of Watertown, the Executive Board was able to improve the exterior of the building by removing dead bushes and spreading mulch. The work took a whole day but was well worth it. So far, the landscaping work has been performed twice and the landscaping remains beautifully maintained.

Hovnanian Hall
In June 2001, the floor and stage of Hovnanian Hall were completely sanded and refurbished. The walls have just been repainted, and the new wall covering will be installed by the end of August. As this space represents the center's greatest revenue-generating source, the Executive Board is happy to rejuvenate it.

The Parking Lot
In August 2001, the driveway was fixed, restripped, and repaved by T&K Asphalt. It looks wonderful and our renters and neighbors are very happy.

The Restrooms
Plans are underway to make some renovations to the restrooms. Most of this work will be done by the end of the year. So far, the ceiling and light fixtures have been replaced.

The Sound System
Recently, thanks to Jack Hajian of Waltham, we completely revamped our sound system in the hall. We bought all new equipment and the sound quality is by far much better. The sound system benefits any renter hoping to use the hall for lectures and events as well as the school and other groups that use the hall for various functions.
